Join Sue the storyteller as we meander through this tiny, but lovely, copse There will be frequent stops for stories about birds and animals that might live there. We will be spotting newly planted trees, identifying some older trees and maybe hearing a woodpecker or magpie. Sue Bailey Friday 01.07.22 The end of the day This is a lovely walk along farm track and across fields to the beach beside Burnt Wood. Weather permitting, we will sit and watch the sunset, while listening to the oystercatchers and watching terns dive. There will be tales about ships and shipwrecks. If it rains in the days leading up to this walk, it might be worth wearing wellies. We will retrace our footsteps along the side of the woodland and finish back at the Sportsman’s Rest. Sue Bailey Wednesday 20.07.22 Northwood House story walk Come on a story walk around the lovely grounds of Northwood House. Sit under some of its grand trees, feel tucked away in the picnic field, and discover the mound covering the icehouse. In each place, Sue-the-storyteller will tell a traditional nursery tale that most children will be familiar with – so much so, that they can join in and add bits, so that we will end up with the best ever versions of favourite stories. Spencer Brown Tuesday 21.06.22 Myths & Legends of Brading Ascend Brading down via the Butterfly path then descend into Nunwell and walk along the ancient road to Little Jane’s House and back to the villa. There is so much to learn and see en route, come and share your knowledge too.  The first part of the walk is the uphill section.  The footpaths that take you up Brading Down are surprisingly gentle. Spencer Brown Tuesday 28.06.22 Roman Landscape & Butterflies Ascend Brading down via the path from Morton Manor and the Butterfly walk then along the ridge of the Down and descend using the other half of the butterfly walk. Last time we found nuts eaten by red squirrels and some by dormice.  Brading Down shows evidence of Iron Age and Roman farming and we will try to trace the lynchets.
