IW AONB Management Plan Review

Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan Review Public Consultation

The Draft Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Management Plan 2019 – 2024 prepared by Wight AONB is now open for public consultation. This is a key opportunity for stakeholders to voice their opinions about the management of their AONB and to help the AONB Partnership formalise a long-term vision for the AONB.

The AONB is a mixture of landscapes, covering approximately half the landmass of the Island. The diversity and relationships between the different landscape types, gives the AONB its unique and important context within the national family of protected landscapes.

The Plan is produced on behalf of, and adopted by, the Isle of Wight Council. The aim of the Management Plan is to provide a framework for the continuous and consistent management of the AONB for the next five years. The Plan is focused on safeguarding the AONB’s inherent value for public use and enjoyment, now and for future generations.

Information covered within the Management Plan:

  • Characteristics that make the AONB special.
  • Significant challenges for the AONB.
  • A vision for the future.
  • Priorities for the next five years.
  • Role clarification of partners and other stakeholders.
  • Objectives and policies.

This is a key opportunity for all stakeholders to voice their opinions about the management of their AONB and to help the AONB Partnership formalise a long-term vision for the AONB.
