SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FUND

The Sustainable Development Fund seeks to foster projects which help deliver the AONB Management Plan and our aim of conserving and enhancing all aspects of the natural beauty of the Area. It aims to develop and test new methods of achieving a more sustainable way of life in this area of great beauty and diversity.

£46,177 is available in the fund until April 2010.  This will provide grants to organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals who wish to explore and develop practical projects that enhance, conserve and develop the environment, economy and way of life.

Eligible projects will:

Help to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the AONB

• Help to deliver the Isle of Wight AONB Management Plan
• Have the demonstrable support or involvement of AONB communities
• Be sustainable against an appropriate test of sustainable development
• Be complementary to key local, regional and national strategies
