Funding

The Sustainable Development Fund looks to assist projects that will bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the Isle of Wight AONB.  It aims to develop and test new methods of achieving a more sustainable way of life in this area of great beauty and diversity.

£66,666 is available in the fund until April 2009.  This will provide grants to organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals who wish to explore and develop practical projects that enhance, conserve and develop the environment, economy and way of life.

Eligible projects will:

Help to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the AONB

• Help to deliver the Isle of Wight AONB Management Plan
• Have the demonstrable support or involvement of AONB communities
• Be sustainable against an appropriate test of sustainable development
• Be complementary to key local, regional and national strategies
